Mexico

Hundreds of thousands of Americans and Canadians retire to Mexico. The climate around Lake Chapala (Guadalajara area), is considered one of the best year-round climates in the world.

It is estimated that more than 7,000 Americans and 7,000 Canadians live in this area, making it one of the largest concentrations of Ex-Pat Canadians outside of the USA.

Many people today are concerned with public safety in Mexico. Here is an article about crime and safety in Mexico.

The coastal areas offer great winter weather, fantastic beaches, tourist activities, and fabulous hotels and resorts. The inland areas, such as Guadalajara offer great weather all the time, lots of culture, very friendly people, and less crime.

Some find it a little boring at times, but local bridge clubs, art clubs, social clubs, etc. are found around Lake Chapala. Other things are lacking. Such as seniors centers, recreation centers, some retirement activities, and good walking trails.

If you are into culture, interested in lower costs of living, then give Mexico a look. Don't read the articles about violence in the USA media, but go there and talk to the people that actually live there. You will probably find out that small-town Mexico is safe.
